My goal is to capture that place and time in paint. I am a plein air painter; however, in the past year, I mainly worked in my studio, implementing my collected observations of nature along with my many photographs.

Rick Grosvenor
Rick is an artist and member of various prestigious art associations in Rhode Island, including the Spring Bull Gallery and the Newport Art Museum. His artwork has been showcased in multiple galleries and he has illustrated editions of the “Beachstrollers Handbook.” Rick has received several accolades, notably winning the best in oil painting category at the Newport Art Museum’s Members’ Show in 2012 and earning honorable mentions in subsequent years. In addition to his artistic pursuits, he has experience creating scientific illustrations at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and has taught art and computer science at both Brewster Academy and St. Mark’s School, having studied under noted instructors at Harvard and St. George’s School.

“The Salon Series in the Library of the Brenton Hotel” is designed to give Brenton Hotel guests and the Newport community a chance to speak to local artists and gallery owners to learn more about Newport, RI’s vibrant fine art scene.
The Newport Artist Collective’s “Salon Series @ The Brenton Hotel” is held every Thursday night from 5:00 to 7:00 and highlights a different artist or gallery.
