Trolley Grand Opening Reflects the Spirit of Historic Paris Salons at Brenton Hotel and Beyond
Newport, RI – July 1, 2024 – Drawing inspiration from the historic Paris salons that once brought together iconic artists, such as Van Gogh, Monet, Gauguin and Cézanne, the Newport Artists Collective is infusing Newport, Rhode Island’s vibrant art scene with a renewed sense of community and creativity — as well as transportation. This summer, the Brenton Hotel proudly hosts the Salon Series, a dynamic platform fostering connections among local artists, collectors and small businesses — all with a breath of fresh, ocean air.
In addition to its Salon Series each Thursday 5-7 pm, the NAC is spearheading an innovative initiative to support local businesses by establishing a transportation hub. This new trolley service will connect visitors to a curated collection of local galleries, creating an accessible and enjoyable way for art enthusiasts to explore Newport’s diverse art scene.
With the NAC’s Salon Series at the Brenton Hotel, local businesses are already feeling the positive impact. The trolley service is expected to further increase foot traffic throughout the city’s charming galleries and shops, making it easier than ever for visitors to experience Newport’s artistic offerings.
“We’re thrilled to see Newport’s art community come together in such a meaningful way,” said Curtis Speer, spokesperson for the Newport Artist Collective. “By creating a space where artists can interact, share and showcase their work, we’re not only enriching the local cultural landscape but also supporting the broader community through increased tourism and business opportunities.”
The Art Trolley is scheduled 6-8:30 pm July 11, August 8 and October 10, with seven locations throughout the city. The route generally takes 30 minutes to complete.
The NAC’s Salon Series features a rotating selection of works from local artists, with special events including artist talks, live demonstrations and networking sessions. Whether you’re an artist, a collector or simply an art lover, the Newport Artists Collective welcomes you to connect, create and celebrate the arts in Newport.
