Painters over Light, a group of professional artists, will be exhibiting a collection of
approximately 50 new paintings at the Providence Picture Frame Dryden Gallery from
September 21 to October 19, 2024.
A meet and greet the artists opening reception will be held on September 21 at 2-4pm.
The Painters over Light, also known as POL, is a group of professional artists that have been
meeting over 10 years for monthly breakfast “critiques” and artistic fellowship. The group
has also participated in a number of exhibitions which provide an exciting opportunity to
view a wide variety of artistic styles.
The exhibit will be held at Providence Picture Frame -Dryden Gallery, which is located at 1350
Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, RI 02904.

About Painters over Light
The POL story began in 2014 when a number of artists attended a workshop at the
Wickford Art Association entitled “Painting with Passion,” which was taught by renowned
Rhode Island artist Anthony Tomaselli. It soon became evident that there was something
happening within this group that was greater than any individual could have anticipated.
The artists came as strangers but soon realized they shared a bond in their desire to
connect on a deeper level. Since many artists create their works in isolation, the
opportunity to share work and have dialogue became a driving force which compelled
the group to move forward beyond a time limited event. From this beginning they made
a commitment to meet every month at T’s Restaurant in Narragansett, RI, with artwork
and stories in hand. Thus the “Painters Over Light” was born. The name represents both
the group’s affinity for light in art and their desire to come together as a group sharing
breakfast and friendship. The group is diverse in interest and artistic expression which can
range from the representational to abstract. Painters Over Light has been highlighted in
local papers and publication and has participated in several RI exhibitions. for more
