Call for Art – Fill the WALLS and HALLS with ART at University Orthopedics in Middletown

The Newport Artists Collective (NAC) is proud to announce a partnership with University Orthopedics to exhibit NAC members’ artwork in the newly opened 10,000-square-foot facility located at 34 Valley Road, Middletown, Rhode Island.

This collaboration aims to enhance the healing environment for patients and staff by integrating local art into the medical setting.

The spacious facility offers the potential to display between 20 to 30 pieces of art on a rotating basis.

All exhibited artworks will be available for purchase through the exhibition software at universityorthopedics.artcall.org.

Upon the sale of a piece, new artwork will be selected to maintain a dynamic and inspiring atmosphere.

Call for Art Submissions

NOTE: Initially – University Orthopedics would like 20-30 pieces of art selected, installed, and exhibited before their OPEN HOUSE in early April (date TBD).

NAC invites artists to submit works aligning with the following themes:

Nature Scenes: Tranquil landscapes featuring mountains, forests, or oceans with soft, natural colors.
Human Movement & Anatomy: Artistic representations of muscles, bones, joints, or abstract depictions of activities like running and sports.
Motivational & Uplifting: Positive quotes about strength and healing, or images showcasing individuals overcoming physical challenges.
Local Artwork: Pieces reflecting the local community or created by local artists.
Soft Abstracts: Simple, soothing designs in neutral tones with flowing patterns suggesting movement and flexibility.

A selection committee comprised of NAC and University Orthopedics will then review, approve, and accept art submissions at their discretion for display in the medical offices and facilities for at least six months.

Each piece on display will be labeled with a QR code AND the artist’s name, including details of the art, price, etc. A master single-page handout of ALL pieces and prices on display will also be available.

A GALLERY of the ART on DISPLAY will be found on this PAGE so that NAC artists and University Orthopedics patients, clients, doctors, and staff can view and purchase the art.

The floor plan’s yellow areas show possible locations for artwork chosen by University Orthopedics. This will be at the discretion of University Orthopedics, with the guidance and assistance of Newport Artstist Collective committee members.

This is an EXAMPLE of our members’ artwork, showcasing pieces that may be displayed in University Orthopedics’ new Middletown reception area, hallways, corridors, conference room, and break room.

MIDDLETOWN, RI (December 19, 2024) — University Orthopedics, one of the region’s largest, most comprehensive orthopedic practices, was joined by community leaders recently when it cut the ribbon on its new Aquidneck Island office in Middletown.

The 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility at 34 Valley Road replaces the practice’s former Middletown office. It boasts cutting-edge technology and modern treatment spaces with 2 X-ray rooms, 12 exam rooms, a dedicated hand therapy area, and an ample physical therapy space.
